Dr. Jay Johnson is the founder and owner of Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital, the Valley’s first animal hospital devoted exclusively to the care of exotic pets. As a boy growing up on the outskirts of Tucson, he was fascinated with exotic pets, especially reptiles. He kept a variety of these unique pets throughout his childhood including snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises, tarantulas, rabbits, a cockatoo, pigmy goats, as well as more traditional pets like dogs and horses.

Dr. Brenna Fitzgerald, originally from Dallas, Texas, is a 2007 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Fitzgerald has had a lifetime love affair with animals of all kinds, but has always considered working with birds and exotic animals her true calling.

Dr. Anna-Marie Ruoff grew up in Colorado surrounded by nature, wildlife, and a small zoo of exotic pets. She decided very early in life that she wanted to be a veterinarian for exotic animals, and her passion for exotic animal medicine has only grown over time.

Dr. Guerrera is a graduate of Colorado State University with a strong interest in avian and exotic pets. He has worked at the Denver Zoo and was involved in several field studies, including mountain gorillas in Uganda and sea turtles in Costa Rica. He has presented at multiple national conferences on a variety of topics in exotic animal medicine.

Dr. Johnson is a native Arizonan and has had a passion and interest in animals, notably reptiles for as long as she can remember. She worked as certified veterinary technician for 13 years prior to pursuing veterinary school.
